My eldest brother Tripoli Daniel Tuau related the following : "When dad signed up (he was too young at the time, the first queue he and his mate were in, the officer told both of them to go home so, they jumped in another queue and the officer didn't look up to see who was signing papers and so they were enlisted), Dad signed on as Hori Te Awarau Karaka Tuau (817797 Pvt): Regimental# 65329 around about 1941. He served 2 years & 339 days up to the day he was shot in Tripoli and so he was sent home from there and that's why I have the name."
