William Macken was my Dad a shy proud person who didn't speak much about the war. He was with "A" Company or The Gumdiggers as they were known. This website is an awesome way to honour my Dad and all those who served in the 28th Maori Battalion.

William Macken is also my great grandfather,he  served the 28th maori battalion thougth I didn't really know him but my Nana Diane and Koro Fred have been telling great stories about the Maori battalion and im very greatfull to have a grandad who served our country.
