TUMATAROA, Pte. Guy,

TUMATAROA, Pte. Guy, Reg.65416, 6 Reinf, NZ Infantry, 28th (Maori) Battalion, D Coy. Son of Ben and Tirita Tumataroa of Mohaka. One of three out of four brothers who did not return home after departing these isles to serve God, King and country in the Great war 1939 - 1945. A sacrifice long regretted. Accidentally killed in Tunisia, 15-05-1943, Age 25. "Moe mai i roto i te ariki." JOHN 15: 12-13 12. Ko taku ture tenei, Kia aroha koutou tetahi ki tetahi, me ahau hoki kua aroha nei ki a koutou. 13. Kahore he aroha o tetahi i rahi ake i tenei, ara kia tuku te tangata i a ia ano kia mate mo ona hoa. 12. This is my commandment, that you love one another, as I have loved you. 13. Greater love has no man than this that a man lay down his life for his friends. Almighty Father, in all humility we dedicate to thy great glory, the memory of your servant, Private Guy Tumataroa, who has made the supreme sacrifice; we bless thee for his courage and devotion, and we pray thee to crown with thy loving mercy the offering of his life. Grant him eternal peace and may light perpetual shine upon him, through he who died and rose again for us all, thy son Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour, Amen. "E kore ratou e whakakoroua, penei i a tatou e koroua ake nei. E kore hoki ratou e ngoikore, ahakoa pehia nga whakararu o te wa. I te hekenga atu o te ra tae noa ki tona aranga mai, ka maumahara tonu tatou ki a ratou "KA MAUMAHARA TONU TATOU KI A RATOU" Chaans Tumataroa, (A forever greatful moko.)
