Mackey was one of three brothers who originally joined C Company; a fourth served in the navy. Third from the right, holding the chipped mug, is Hako Wilson of Waharoa (Ngāti Haua). This photograph was taken by the Battalion's long-serving medical officer, Captain Campbell D'Arcy.
