February 1942 was spent re-equipping and training, the Battalion regaining its vitality. Read the war diary for February 1942 here
Preparing Italian sheep for dinner
28th Battalion soldiers in the forward area of the 8th Army Front, Italy, prepare sheep for dinner in the winter snow. The Māori soldiers were masters at procuring Italian livestock, usually without being caught.
