70 years ago this month

May 1942 the Battalion is still at Arsal in the Syrian foothills undertaking exercises and manoeuvres. Major Tiwi Love becomes the first Māori commander of the unit. Read the war diary for May 1942 here

Brothers in arms..

touching photo of Ted Hayward finally arriving at his loved elder brother John's (20th Battalion KIA 27 nov.1941) gravesite in libya around christmas 1941.

note style and left side position ted prefered for his 45 revolver.

My grandfather Blokey Hayward was a younger brother of John,Tiwara & Ted.....I always heard stories from my koro about his brothers when I was growing up and remember a photo of his oldest brother Jack(as he called him),in uniform and also of Ti(as he called him)
