Anania Amohau at the Battalion's return, 1946

Former B Company Sergeant-Major Anania (Nan) Amohau, an original member of the Māori Battalion, laid down the ceremonial challenge when the 780 returning members of the Battalion were welcomed home at Wellington's Aotea Quay in January 1946. Amohau had earlier composed the Maori Battalion March to Victory song.
