NZ Division arrives in Athens, 1941

The New Zealand Division, including the 28th Māori Battalion, arrived in Greece in late March 1941. In Athens it received a wonderful reception from the local population, who lined the streets to cheer those who had come to defend their country. Sadly, a month later the Allied forces were forced to withdraw in disarray before the German advance.
