February 1942 was spent re-equipping and training, the Battalion regaining its vitality. Read the war diary for February 1942 here
NZ Division arrives in Athens, 1941

The New Zealand Division, including the 28th Māori Battalion, arrived in Greece in late March 1941. In Athens it received a wonderful reception from the local population, who lined the streets to cheer those who had come to defend their country. Sadly, a month later the Allied forces were forced to withdraw in disarray before the German advance.
