I have searched long and hard to find the name of the comrade that was photographed with my Koroua, and thanks to your family; I have found you, and can finally put a name to your face. I am so grateful for this.

It was an absolute joy to see a photo of my father that I have never seen ever!!! WOW Thank you for posting it to the Website. I listed my dad on the Auckland War Memorial Museum with photo and a story about him written by my sister.Eddie Wells lived and worked in Whangarei after the war and after he married my mother, Esther. They became members of the A Company 28 Maori Bn Association Whangarei Branch and as a result I grew up knowing many of my dad's comrades and their families. These Veterans attended each others special celebrations, family birthdays, wedding anniversaries, weddings and sadly the passing of 'mates' . We still have an association branch in Whangarei, kept running by other children of a Veteran, like myself, but we have recently lost our last Whangarei Veteran, Mr Bill Pitman. As Associate members of the 28MB Association we have raised a Pou to our fathers and mothers of the Whangarei Branch and it stands just outside the Whangarei Library.
