Henry William (Lockie) Rogers.
* D.O.B./Place: 12th August,1914,Kaeo, Northland New Zealand.
* Parents: Father - William Henry Rogers. Mother - Puti Rose Hemi Rogers.
* Service Number: 34872
* Regiment: 28th Maori Battalion,2nd Echelon.
* Rank: Warrant Officer 2nd Class.
* Killed in Action,Crete,2nd May 1941, aged 26 years, 10 months.
* Burial: Initially buried at Platanias (Battalion Observation Post),facing Meleme Aerodrome,Crete.
* Interred and reburied at the Suda Bay Military Cemetery,Crete, on the 17th of August,1945.
* Grave 17,Row A,Plot 6.
* Cause of Death: Lockie died from a mortar bomb exploding in the mortar tube that he was loading. He was killed immediately from severe head and chest injuries.
* His death was confirmed by 2nd Lieutenant George Katene, Service No.6125 of Porirua, New Zealand and LCPL Matthew Love,Service No.39526 of Porirua, New Zealand.
* 2nd Lieutenant Katene was killed in action,Italy,7th December 1943.
* LCPL Love was discharged from service,14th December,1943.
* A cable was issued to Lockie’s Mother, Puti Rose Hemi Rogers from New Zealand Defence Force, Maadi Encampment, Cairo, Egypt,dated 12th July 1941,that her son was ‘killed in action.’
