Ben's brother William also served with the 28 Battalion.

Dad used to have a glory box full of stuff from his journeys when in the army. My sister and I used to love dressing up in the different customes of different countries especially the kimonos:)) He also had alot of photos with his war buddies, which Im sad to say have all been lost to time:( He died suddenly at home (Kamo) in 1989 and is buried in Utakura.

I have the fondest memories of my Papa Ben….whether it was him performing in the Ratana band, camping at Marsden Point with us moko’s or playing cards with all the nannie’s/koro’s or the ole’ kick up the bum when playing up ones 😅
Beautiful memories of him I will treasure always 💕
