"Chris" Ruhi was assigned as Army driver to the New Zealand Broadcasting Unit in Egypt and Libya from Dec. 1941-1943. He drove the unit's mobile recording unit (mounted on a Leyland truck chassis) and also their Ford Mercury V8 car which did thousands of miles during the war, driving all over the Middle East and North Africa to record the voices of NZ forces for radio. He is written about often by mobile unit broadcasters in their letters home. I'm happy to be contacted by any whānau wanting to know more. Ngā mihi.
