Whiu's brother was Tuahae Te Purei, 62626 also in 28th Maori Battalion. Tuahae was in D Company, while most of the coasties were in C Company.

Uncle Whiu was mum's brother, she is listed as his next of kin as she was the eldest of their line. My sister carries his name because he had no issue. I would love to add the photo to our family collection however understand I need your permission to re use the image. Can you tell me your connection please.

No connection I just photograph war graves. International coywrite law apparently applies.I visited his grave in 2004 (I think)and others from The Maori Battalion and 2NZEF. I said a prayer (I am Catholic) and sung a little song for him. My wife is Te Rarawa from Pangaru and she was there too.Email me [email protected] and I will send you a high resolution image.Shaun
