I remember J F Cody coming to interview my father for his book on the Maori Battalion after the war, as he did many soldiers. They were closeted in the sitting-room for several hours over a couple of days talking about the Italian Campaign. Later as an adult I was able to read Dad's quotes in the book with great interest.
