ABOUT MY UNCLE MOSES MAKOARE.

My uncle Moses Makoare is mentioned on page 125 of the Official History of the 28 (Maori) Battalion by JF Cody.  He manned a Bren gun covering fom the flank a ridge that 10 Platoon of B Company had withdrawn from due to mortar fire in Crete 1941. The Battalion along with other Allied Forces were undertaking a long march across the White Mountains to Sfakia, here they would withdraw from Crete to Egypt.
