My grand father served in the 28th Maori Battalion between 1939 - 1945. He was a private in A Company.
This image was taken in Joe's later years, in Dargaville where he is from. His whanau whakapapa is Te Roroa from the Hokianga - Waimamaku/Waipoua - of the Iwi Te Roroa.
