A pohutukawa tree planted in friendship and remembrance of the bonds forged between the New Zealand and Cretan peoples during WWII.
The plaque reads: This pohutukawa a native of New Zealand was planted as a symbol of the enduring friendship between the peoples of Crete and New Zealand on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the Battle of Crete.
