Kabrit training centre, Egypt

After the battle on Crete the Māori Battalion were camped at Helwan, Egypt.  This period was full of adjustment, consoldiation and recovery. 

On the 26th of July 1941 they were ordered to shift to a new camp area called Kabret (sic Kabrit) - shown here in the sketch above.  They arrived at Kabrit on 27th July 1941.  The Māori Battalion were here with the rest of 5 Brigade undergoing combined operations training.
