70 years ago this month

Reconnaissance and patrols are undertaken to ready for the Battalion's attack on the Cassino railway station. The attack saw the unit suffer over 100 casualties in less than 24 hours, the heaviest of any of the New Zealand units. Read the war diary for February 1944 here

Uncle was known as 'Ribbon'

Uncle was known as 'Ribbon' and passed away in Hawera 7th Feb 1991 and now rests at Hawera Burial Returned Service Association Cemetery . He was 79 years of age. I will add further on his military history once obtained from the NZ War Office. Also trying to find a photo of him. Tui Tamou
