February 1942 was spent re-equipping and training, the Battalion regaining its vitality. Read the war diary for February 1942 here
Resting in a Cretan olive grove, 1941

New Zealand troops rest in an olive grove during the retreat in Crete in May 1941. It was through similar terrain that the Māori Battalion led their famous bayonet charge at 42nd Street.
