"Monarch Memories" 1945/46

Colourfull front cover page of the booklet given to all war wary homebound passengers aboard the "Dominion Monarch".

This voyage above all others over the previous six years would have been the happiest and most looked forward to.

The ship The Dominon Monarch embarked at Southampton,England on the 17th of December 1945, retrieved ANZACs from Port Naples, Italy on Christmas day and Taranto, Italy on the 27th. Then across the Mediterranean to Port Said, Egypt arriving late on the 29th and then to Port Tewfik, Egypt on the 31st of December 1945.

It would have been a ship board New Year’s Eve party like no other, bound for Fremantle in Western Australia and then ultimately Wellington, New Zealand.  Arriving on January 26th 1946.

Home at last.
