Iron Cross souvenir from Crete

Māori and Pākehā soldiers crowd around a member of the 28th Māori Battalion who proudly displays an Iron Cross souvenired from a dead or captured German soldier during the Battle for Crete.
The soldiers are at a garden party held at Maadi Camp, Egypt, in 1941 for members of 2NZEF recently evacuated from Greece and Crete.
