Helping Italian refugees in Faenza

A Māori soldier helps Italian refugees into their air-raid shelter underneath a haystack near Faenza, Italy. The New Zealanders experienced much closer contact with Italian civilians between 1943 and 1945 than they had with local people in the sparsely populated North African desert.
