George Kiwa Walker

John was my brother.Better known as GK, (or Kahawai ,a nick name given to him by his Milner cousins, Kiri and Wallace , because of the colour of his eyes). John was wounded in action whilst in Italy and was repatriated home .He was sent to Burwood Hospital over a period of several months where he underwent plastic surgery for his wounded leg.John was the youngest living son of Raana and Mary(nee Milner) Walker and brother to James Wi Hekopa.He is survived by his widow(wife #2) Kate (nee Ngarimu) and several children and mokopuna. He was married first to Tangihaere Maru and had 3 children. He was first cousin to the Milners and Mackey brothers who were were also members of the Maori Battalion.
