A collection of enemy rifles

A 28th Māori Battalion soldier inspects a collection of enemy rifles – probably Italian - captured during the desert campaign.

The original caption reads 'Tom Waerea with "theirs not ours"'. Can anyone help us identify who 'Tom' is? We have three soldiers with the surname Waerea on the Roll, but none with a first name given as Thomas or Tom. Please leave a comment below or email info@28maoribattalion.org.nz if you can help.
